Speech Day & Prize Giving at Oaklands School

Oaklands enjoyed celebrating the year with their annual Speech Day and Prize Giving. It took place in a marquee on the field which was full to the brim with pupils, staff, family, and friends.

The guest speaker this year was Teresa Watts, the Pearly Queen of Clapton. Teresa lives in Loughton, and became an ambassador for 3food4u. Teresa also runs a baby bank providing free essentials including buggies, baskets, changing mats, clothes, nappies, milk and much more to any mother that needs them without question or referral.

Oaklands were very proud of the pupils who were elected to give reports of their year, which included class highlights and school trips. The audience also enjoyed performances by the schools' fabulous Orchestra, and the children gave us a lively rendition of two songs from their production of 'Let the Games Begin….'

In addition to the awards, Mrs Copeman also announced the Year 6 Roles of Responsibility for the next academic year. The school also said a fond farewell to Mrs Rathbone who is sadly leaving Oaklands after 24 years in the Music Department.

Well done to everyone who won a prize, all of the children at Oaklands should be very proud of their progress this year.
